Banteay Srei, Beung Mealea, and Roluos: A Khmer Odyssey

Embark on a soul-stirring odyssey through Cambodia's lesser-explored wonders with our exclusive "Banteay Srei, Beung Mealea, and Roluos: A Khmer Odyssey" tour. This fully private experience seamlessly blends the intricate beauty of Banteay Srei, the mystical allure of Beung Mealea, and the ancient charm of the Roluos Group Temples.

What we will see:

  • Banteay Srey: Banteay Srey is a 10th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Known for its intricate and delicate pink sandstone carvings, it is often referred to as the "Citadel of Women" due to the quality of craftsmanship. Despite its relatively small size, Banteay Srey is renowned for its exquisite details and is considered a gem of Khmer art.

  • Banteay Samre: Banteay Samre is a temple built in the 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II. It shares architectural similarities with Angkor Wat but on a smaller scale. The temple features well-preserved carvings and a unique blend of Hindu and Buddhist motifs. Banteay Samre is known for its elegant design and is less crowded compared to some other Angkor temples.

  • Pre Rup: Pre Rup is a temple mountain built in the late 10th century as a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. It is characterized by its pyramid-like structure and stunning views from the top. Often associated with funerary rites, Pre Rup's name translates to "turn the body" in Khmer, suggesting its connection to cremation ceremonies.

  • East Mebon: East Mebon is a 10th-century temple built during the reign of King Rajendravarman II. Dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, the temple stands on an artificial island in the East Baray reservoir. Known for its large elephant sculptures at the corners of the temple's tiers, East Mebon is an impressive example of Khmer temple architecture.

  • Ta Som: Ta Som is a small temple built in the late 12th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. The temple is known for the giant fig tree that grows over the eastern gate, creating a picturesque scene. Ta Som is one of the lesser-visited temples at Angkor, providing a more serene atmosphere for exploration.

  • Neak Pean: Neak Pean is a unique temple located on an artificial island in the Jayatataka Baray reservoir. Built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century, it features a central sanctuary surrounded by four smaller ponds. The temple's name means "The Entwined Serpents," referring to the stone nagas that encircle the central sanctuary.

  • Preah Khan: Preah Khan, built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, served as a temple, city, and Buddhist university. The sprawling complex is known for its impressive architecture and extensive carvings. Preah Khan, meaning "Royal Sword," has been left largely unrestored, allowing visitors to experience the mysterious and overgrown atmosphere of a rediscovered temple.
